How quickly does the message go out after pushing a button?
Once the device has acquired a GPS fix, messages are typically sent out to their destination in 2 to 5 minutes.
What is the character limit for email and text?
The character limit for SMS Texting and Email messages is 140 characters. This includes empty spaces and in the case of emails, any previous messages quoted in a reply. Common Issues My message is short but still does not go through. If you have a short message but it still does not go through, it could be that you are returning to a new line of text and the empty spaces are counted towards your character limit. You may encounter failed inbound emails due to the sender allowing the quote of your original message to be included. Please ensure that any email sent to the SPOT X is free of all text other than the intended message.
Can my SPOTX device be experiencing 5g interference?
Due to the recent rollout of T-Mobile/Sprint 5G service availability in several U.S. cities, you may experience interference and an interruption of service for incoming messages sent to your SPOT X. This is only affecting specific areas where the T-Mobile/Sprint 5G cellular network is available and within a specified range of your SPOT X. Although this interference can affect your ability to receive messages on your SPOT X, it will not prevent your SPOT X from sending messages nor will it interfere with outgoing SOS messages.
If sending 3 separate messages, how long will it take for the SPOT X to send all messages?
The messages are sequential and as soon as Message 1 is acknowledged, Message 2 will start. If Message 1 is not acknowledged or the SPOT X does not receive the acknowledgement, it will continue sending Message 1 up to five times for redundancy to improve the probability of a successful delivery.
Why does my character count go down so quickly when I used a typed-in contact?
Because of the larger number of characters that need to be available for email addresses, the address characters are counted as part of the message. You can avoid limiting your character count by adding Contacts before sending your message.
