QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Can my SPOTX device be experiencing 5g interference?

Due to the recent rollout of T-Mobile/Sprint 5G service availability in several U.S. cities, you may experience interference and an interruption of service for incoming messages sent to your SPOT X. This is only affecting specific areas where the T-Mobile/Sprint 5G cellular network is available and within a specified range of your SPOT X. Although this interference can affect your ability to receive messages on your SPOT X, it will not prevent your SPOT X from sending messages nor will it interfere with outgoing SOS messages. ...

How do I know if my message was sent?

Your sent messages will be displayed in the Messages screen. The Check-In Message will not display the texts sent, but only the GPS coordinates and date/time it was sent. You also can view your sent messages in your SPOT MyAccount. Before heading off the grid, we strongly recommend that you send a test message to ensure your device was activated properly. There are also 3 different icons indicate the status of a message: - The first is a chat bubble with a check mark indicating message sent. - The second is a chat bubble with a question mark indicating message sent, but the delivery could not be confirmed. - The third is a chat bubble with a X indicating message was not sent. This is usually due to poor GPS signal conditions." ...

What is the character limit for email and text?

The maximum is 140 characters for email and text....

How quickly does the message go out after pushing a button?

Once the device has acquired a GPS fix, messages are typically sent out to their destination in 2 to 5 minutes. ...

The SPOT X sends redundant messages to improve the delivery probability of those messages. This process may extend the amount of time a message is delivered but other variables may also delay the message delivery time like: -Obstruction -Spot X Antenna orientation -Environment -GPS Satellite Acquisition -Physical Location ...
