SOS

What happens when I send an SOS?

Your SPOT device includes access to our worldwide rescue monitoring service in case you are in a life-threatening situation.

When you initiate the SOS from your device, a great deal of effort is executed to ensure help is on the way.

Once the SOS alert is received by our Rescue Monitoring Center, the emergency response team will immediately begin to process the rescue by:

  1. Confirming your location by the coordinates sent by your SPOT
  2. Attempting to acquire more information about your emergency situation by communicating with the following contacts
NoteContacts below will be called by the rescue center to gather important information and to ensure the SOS is valid
    1. The SPOT User contact designated by you.
    2. The Primary Emergency contact designated by you.
    3. The Secondary Emergency contact designated by you.
  3. Communicating with the most appropriate Search & Rescue agency near your emergency location
  4. Monitoring the Search & Rescue event until completion
