With more than 600 million connected vehicles expected to be on the road by 2025 and with the market for automotive connectivity projected to increase to $103 billion by 2030, Globalstar seeks to leverage its two-way global and broadcast capable network to assist automakers to comply with the latest safety regulations, deliver over-the-air (OTA) software updates, increase location accuracy and improve reliability for autonomous vehicle operation.

Globalstar Satellite Technology to Combat North Sea Pollution

Globalstar Europe Satellite Services Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Globalstar Inc. and satellite messaging and emergency notification technologies provider, announced  that SPOT Trace and Globalstar satellite communications are helping researchers at the University of Oldenburg in Germany better understand and combat plastic pollution in the North Sea. A team from the University’s Institute of Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment is studying the movement of floating plastic pollution to get a clear picture of the drift patterns. PhD student Jens Meyerjürgens explains: “We embed low-cost satellite trackers into floating buoys which provide a wealth of information on the movement of plastics on the sea’s surface. This helps us understand how plastic debris moves and how it is affected by the complex interaction of wind, current and tides.” Read More >

Globalstar : Botswana Grants Globalstar's First International Terrestrial Spectrum Approval

Globalstar, Inc. announced that the Botswana Communications Regulator Authority(BOCRA) has granted terrestrial authority to Globalstar'sBotswana subsidiary to provide terrestrial mobile broadband services over 16.5 MHz of S-band spectrum at 2483.5 to 2500 MHz. Globalstar filed its application for terrestrial authority in Botswana in early 2017 and appreciates BOCRA's accelerated review. With this approval, Botswana becomes the first country outside of the US to approve Globalstar's terrestrial S-band authority and the first country to approve the authority over 16.5 MHz across Globalstar's licensed 2.4 GHz holdings.
