Why is Overwatch & Rescue™ “O&R” offered to SPOT customers?

As of July 1, 2021; Globalstar entered a partnership with FocusPoint International, the O&R provider, to protect SPOT customers with a market-leading crisis assistance fully funded plan.

How does O&R protect SPOT customers?

O&R will respond to security-crisis, pandemic threat, natural disaster, and medically necessary evacuation events suffered by eligible customers outside of their permanent residence.

Does a SPOT customer have to pay additional cost for services during a crisis event?

No, SPOT customers receive fully funded response services and expense-covered benefits during a crisis event including on-demand 24/7 access to security and medical service specialists for advice and incident management. Therefore, expenses to resolve a crisis event, or to deploy medically necessary transport, must be paid directly by O&R operations and cannot be reimbursed to the customer.

What is the benefit of fully funded assistance/expense plan?

During a crisis event or medically necessary evacuation, O&R operations will arrange and pay on the SPOT customer’s behalf, expenses associated with the crisis (i.e., shelter in place, safe harbor, evacuation) or the medically necessary transport.

Does O&R replace my travel or medical insurance?

No, O&R is not an insurance policy, so it is not intended to replace travel medical or trip insurance plans. O&R serves to enhance the SPOT customer experience during a crisis thus eliminating out-of-pocket expense, deductibles, or claim processing, to receive expense benefit to resolve a qualifying crisis event or to receive medically necessary transport benefits. O&R has no monetary limits applied, the service limitations are based on a) frequency of use requiring expense deployment during a plan year and b) the number of assistance days.

Can I purchase an O&R membership for my family members or friends under the same SPOT My Account?

SPOT and FocusPoint International are exploring the implementation of this option. However, this feature is not available at this moment.
