Put It To The Test

Let’s talk Cradle Point and expand on the applications improved by Globalstar’s Sat-Fi2 services during disaster response and recovery. Understanding the distinct differences between response and recovery is key to incorporating the Globalstar solution into your emergency planning. Globalstar Sat-Fi solutions partnered with Cradle Point and traditional LTE will give the option to go where the people are. Be at the “bleeding” edge of the recovery efforts. Maintain strong operational awareness during both rescue and recovery.

Last time we discussed methods and hardware to take Globalstar Sat-Fi2 services and put them to operational use. Now we can take that same build with Cradle Point and expand the applications improved by Globalstar Sat-Fi2 services during disaster response and recovery.

First understand distinct differences between Response and Recovery. The Federal authorities echo a phrase, “the first 72 is on you”. That is the time of Response and this sprint for rescue and survival will be fraught with its own mentality and obstacles to overcome. Once outside of the first 72 hours you begin to move toward Recovery, and this piece is a marathon. You need to realize it will be long and winding road with constant change where scalability and flexibility will be the keys to success.

There will be a level of “internal” recovery. Where organization tapped as tier 1 agencies will come in and begin rebuilding infrastructure for returns of the local population.

The massive influx of people clamoring to begin clean up, repairs and return to normalcy will sweep through. This will create a heavy demand on resources and infrastructure.

After will be the shift in the local population. The factors affecting this are the inundation of out of town workers and those who wait or never return. This will change expectations, basic culture and accepted norms.
These pieces are a summary of many days, weeks, months and possibly years of the difficulties faces by a region struck by massive natural disasters. These phases will bleed into each other and most likely only be noticeable in hindsight, but this is why scalability and flexibility will allow businesses, first responders and governments to navigate and claim success.

Below is a short list of options for how Globalstar Sat-Fi can keep organization scalable and flexible.
  • Food trailers
  • Check in stations for shelters
  • Interstate monitoring stations
  • Allowing infrastructure to regain a handhold quicker with POS and inventory management for consumer goods and services.
  • EOC’s
  • Digital food stamps
  • Mobile response teams
