Let's Talk About Value
Globalstar offers easy voice communication with standard US 10-digit dialing and exceptional voice quality. Globalstar also works with partners who develop tools such as a devices used to monitor a remote generator, provide field updates to a GIS solution, or send security alerts from a remote camera site. Satellite users know they need remote solutions but may not realize the power of the tools they own.
Price increases are a necessary evil but always bring pause to review the value you get for the money you spend.
The first question to answer is, “Why do I need remote communications and where do I need it?” This is the start of a larger dialog; is it for safety, business continuity, to maintain basic voice connection, internet data, security, or is for asset tracking? All of these are valid reasons to have a device - so now, what’s your budget? Satellite hardware begins at under $100 with the SPOT Trace for asset management and increases with the services needed for voice and data. Let’s review some ideas that creative partners and brand ambassadors are using Globalstar for that increases the value and access while maintaining a reasonable cost.
Globalstar offers easy voice communication with standard US 10-digit dialing and exceptional voice quality, but did you know that it can deliver data at up to 72 kbps via our Sat-Fi2, satellite Wi-Fi hotspot? Sat-Fi2 works with your smart device(s) and uses Sat-Browse, powered by Yippy, giving you compressed data for faster web browsing with lower costs.
There’s even more that Globalstar can do to improve your return on investment.
Besides great voice quality, our GSP-2900 provides a standard telecom connection that has been used by some of our technical dealers with a phone patch. Globalstar uses standardize telecom tones (DTMF, dual tone multi frequency, a standardized tone system used by the telephone industry) enabling use with off the shelf technology. A phone patch is a device that allows a two way radio to access a phone line using a series of tones generated by a microphone. The microphone has a standard numeric keypad and the phone patch is a piece of hardware located in a repeater site that connects to a phone line to make phone calls by radio to a land or cell phone.
Globalstar works with partners who develop tools such as a devices used to monitor a remote generator, provide field updates to a GIS solution, or send security alerts from a remote camera site. The common thread is low cost, low bandwidth data.
Previously, websites were labeled “mobile” when they provided low bandwidth pages of their high bandwidth PC counterparts. Today “mobile” means it displays the same high bandwidth content on a smaller screen with touch capabilities. Tech savvy users know there are tools to adjust this content within your browser to reduce what content is automatically downloaded. There are also special websites that act as a conduit to reduce the amount of bandwidth to simplify the written text and reduce the resolution of the images.
