Press Releases  GLOBALSTAR GRANTED LICENSE TO PROVIDE SATELLITE VOICE AND DATA SERVICES TO SOUTH AFRICA Company proceeds with plans to provide enhanced satellite coverage throughout Southern Africa region MILPITAS, CA., June 29 2006 - Globalstar, Inc., a world leader in providing mobile satellite voice and data services to business, announced today that its South Africa subsidiary, Globalstar Satellite Services (Pty) Ltd. (Globalstar Southern Africa), has received a value added network services license from the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA). Globalstar Southern Africa may now proceed with its plans to provide satellite voice and data services in South Africa. The company, established in March 2006, filed its application for a license with the ICASA in May. “Receiving ICASA approval is a fundamental accomplishment and is the primary step necessary to provide high quality Globalstar satellite voice and data services to South Africa and the surrounding region”, said Tony Navarra, President of Global Operations for Globalstar, Inc. Mr. Navarra added, “Now that the licensing is complete, Globalstar Southern Africa can proceed with planning the next steps required to activate the region’s satellite gateway.” In 2000 a Globalstar satellite ground station or gateway, was constructed in Delareyville, South Africa with the intent to provide satellite service to South Africa and its neighboring countries and coastal waters. Although the facility was completed and tested, commercial service was never initiated because of a number of unresolved regulatory and licensing issues.
