Jay Monroe -- Chairman and CEO of Globalstar, Inc.
Jay Monroe is Chairman and CEO of Globalstar, Inc., one of the world's leading Mobile Satellite Services firms. He has held the Chairman position since the purchase of the assets of Globalstar by Thermo Capital Partners in April 2004, and was elected CEO in January 2005. Mr. Monroe directs the corporation’s daily operations and manages its long-term strategic growth. Since becoming CEO, Mr. Monroe has launched several major initiatives to extend the quality and reach of its service and expand the Globalstar portfolio of voice and data solutions.
Mr. Monroe has been the majority owner of the Thermo Companies since their founding in 1984. Mr. Monroe has overseen operations in a wide variety of businesses at all phases of growth from startup through maturity. Under his direction the Thermo Companies founded or acquired companies in diverse industries including power generation, natural resource development, industrial equipment distribution, real estate, telecommunications and leasing services. Mr. Monroe is on the Board of Directors of Thermo Capital Partners and several of its portfolio companies. Mr. Monroe is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans
Thomas M. Colby -- Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer Mr. Colby manages the daily operations of Globalstar, Inc. and its subsidiary company SPOT LLC., and is responsible for extending the quality and reach of the company’s portfolio of satellite voice and data solutions. He joined Globalstar from his position as Vice President and General Manager of Trimble Navigation Limited (formerly @Road, Inc.), a provider of GPS and other advanced positioning solutions, where he planned, developed and launched Trimble’s re-entry into the Transportation market and managed cross-functional teams covering development, operations, marketing, sales and finance.
Mr. Colby has held a number of prominent positions in international consumer electronic and other wireless and Internet based technology related businesses throughout a professional career spanning approximately three decades, including recent executive level positions at Eyematic Interfaces Inc., as Chief Executive Officer, and WebEx Communications, Inc., as Vice President Worldwide Operations & Corporate Development. During his tenure at Eyematic Interfaces, Mr. Colby successfully developed the company’s global business plan, led private equity financing efforts and built business partnerships with companies including NTT DoCoMo, Verizon Wireless, Microsoft and T-Mobile prior to its acquisition in 2004.
Mr. Colby also had responsibility for business and new technology development, sales, marketing and operations while serving in various positions at Apple Inc., Dell Inc., AppLab Inc. and CellNet Data Systems.
Mr. Colby holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Santa Clara University located in Santa Clara, California.
Anthony J. Navarra -- President, Global Operations of Globalstar, Inc.
As President of Global Operations, Anthony Navarra has direct responsibility for managing Globalstar Inc.’s strategic relations with the its independent gateway operators (IGOs) around the world. This involves identifying new opportunities for additional gateways on the Globalstar system and developing opportunities for the acquisition of IGOs by Globalstar. Along with his additional staff responsibilities, Mr. Navarra is also chiefly responsible for identifying and developing programs with various Government and DoD entities as well as the direct management of the legal & regulatory affairs functions for Globalstar.
Prior to joining the Globalstar project in 1991, Mr. Navarra was Vice President of both Engineering and Marketing at the Rolm Mil-Spec Computers division of Loral Corporation, where he was responsible for managing the product development of military computers, high-speed mass storage devices and satellite communications processors.
From 1984 to 1987, Mr. Navarra worked for TRW as business area director of Milstar satellite and terminal technologies. Prior to that, Mr. Navarra worked for Magnavox Research Laboratories and Government Electronics Company in developing, fielding and operating CDMA spread spectrum terminals on various DoD platforms.
Mr. Navarra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of San Francisco and a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. He gained post-degree work experience in the theory of satellite communications while attending the U.S. Army Signal Corps at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. Mr. Navarra has continued post-graduate work at Stanford University in Business and Management.
Fuad Ahmad -- Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Ahmad has held the position of Chief Financial Officer since June 2005. In his capacity as CFO, Mr. Ahmad is responsible for all aspects related to corporate finance, domestic and international tax and accounting operations, financial and business planning and analysis, budgeting, and global treasury operations. More recently, Mr. Ahmad has also been involved with service provider consolidation and integration efforts as well as Globalstar's restructuring activities.
Mr. Ahmad has been with Globalstar and its predecessor since 1996 where he began in the role of Finance Manager. He played an instrumental part in initial fund raising activities related to building and launching the Globalstar system.
Prior to Globalstar, Mr. Ahmad worked at Transworld Telecommunications, Inc. a private equity financed firm engaged in acquiring telecommunications companies in the United States. At Transworld Mr. Ahmad was a key member of the management team where he directed the financial dealings of the company, leading to the eventual sale of the entire portfolio of Transworld companies to Sprint.
Mr. Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
Steven F. Bell -- Senior Vice President, International Sales, Marketing and Customer Care Operations
As Senior Vice President of Globalstar, Inc., Steven Bell oversees the management of the it’s subsidiary international business properties including the service provider operations in Canada, Europe, Central America and Venezuela. He is also directly responsible for the Canadian business operations including charting the future growth of sales and maintaining and developing the dealer distribution network. Mr. Bell’s responsibilities also include leading the strategic direction for the Canadian territory and directing the marketing and communication activities in Canada as well as the customer care call center operations for North America and Europe. Mr. Bell's commitments cover product fulfillment for the United States, Canada and various other service providers around the world and overseeing the Service Center, product repair and warranty work, for North America. Since 2003 he has been General Manager of Globalstar Canada, which followed his role of four years as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Canadian Globalstar independent service provider.
Prior to joining Globalstar, Mr. Bell spent 10 years with Rogers Cantel, now Rogers Wireless, where he held a variety of national and regional sales and marketing positions that progressed in responsibility during his tenure. As Director of Sales for the province of Alberta he was responsible for the strategic leadership of the provincial business as well as managing sales execution for corporate, dealer and retail sales. Prior to this, he served as National Manager of Dealer Business Development for Rogers Cantel. Mr. Bell is a graduate of the University of Guelph.
Dennis C. Allen -- Senior Vice President of US Sales and Marketing
Dennis Allen became a member of the Globalstar executive team in June 2004. He is responsible for Globalstar sales in the United States and the Caribbean. Dennis also oversees the management and development of the agent distribution network for these markets.
Dennis Allen has an extensive background in sales, marketing and management. He began his sales career over 25 years ago as an Account Executive with IBM Corporation. He left IBM to open his first office machines/products/telecom services dealerships in Mississippi, Arkansas and Florida.
Prior to joining Globalstar, he also served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Xspedius Communications, one of the Thermo Companies. He also supported the Expedius eSPIRE Merger and carried out due diligence for the Thermo Companies on Globalstar USA.
Robert D. (Bob) Miller -- Senior Vice President of Engineering and Ground Operations
Effective June 1, 2004 Robert D. (Bob) Miller, was named Senior Vice President of Ground Operations, Information Technology and Engineering for Globalstar. He previously served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Unibill, LLC, a full service-billing vendor for the telecommunications industry. He was responsible for all technical operations including software development, billing operations, and information service.
Prior to Unibill, Bob was the Chief Technology Officer for Xspedius where his responsibilities covered all engineering, operations and information services. In addition, Bob was the Vice President of integration activities at Xspedius Communications and directed the integration of recent market acquisitions within the projected timelines and budgets. He joined Xspedius from Frontier Communications, a national telecommunications company now named Global Crossing, where he supported complex network design and assurance within his capacity as a regional engineering resource. His role included TCP/IP subject matter expert and was a resource for other Frontier engineers on internet protocols and applications.
Prior to Frontier, as the Director of Networking at LDS-iAmerica, a regional Internet Service Provider covering a five state area, Bob developed an extensive help desk, product development and engineering department. He has also established and managed an application development business and served as the Director of Computing Services for the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Research Center. Bob graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Louisiana in Monroe Louisiana (formerly known as Northeast Louisiana University).
William F. (Bill) Adler -- Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs
Bill Adler is Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs for Globalstar, Inc. In this position, he serves as general counsel for Globalstar with responsibility for U.S. legal matters and international regulatory issues, including spectrum acquisition. Bill also serves as corporate secretary and director of a number of Globalstar subsidiaries.
Immediately prior to joining Globalstar in 1996, Mr. Adler was a partner with a communications law firm in Washington, D.C. From 1986 to 1994, he was Executive Director-Federal Regulatory Relations for Pacific Telesis Group. Before joining Pacific Telesis, Mr. Adler served for more than six years at the Federal Communications Commission as Deputy Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau, Chief of the Bureau’s Mobile Services Division, and Chief of the Bureau’s International Facilities Division.
Mr. Adler holds a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law and a B.A. degree from Dartmouth College.
Paul A. Monte – Vice President, Engineering and Product Development
As Vice President, Engineering and Product development. Paul Monte is responsible for the systems engineering of the Globalstar network as well as the company’s development and launch of new products and services.
Paul began working on the Globalstar project in 1990 and was the principal architect of the original Globalstar space and ground segment. Between 1997 and 2005, he served as the company’s Director of Systems Engineering. Prior to joining Globalstar Mr. Monte was Principal Engineer at Space Systems/Loral, responsible for systems analysis and various communications and tactical initiatives. He has also worked at Ford Aerospace as a Senior Research Development Engineer. Mr. Monte holds a Masters Degree in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Martin E. Neilsen -- Vice President, New Business Ventures
Mr. Neilsen has been with Globalstar since 1992 and is currently Vice President of New Business Ventures for Globalstar. In this role Mr. Neilsen is responsible for 1) expansion of Globalstar satellite service in currently uncovered areas of the world, 2) supporting Globalstar’s independent service providers around the world in the expansion of their business, and 3) evaluating and making recommendations on all new business opportunities that arise within Globalstar. Mr. Neilsen is also an Officer of Globalstar South Africa as well as Board Member of Globaltouch (West Africa) Limited.
Prior to his current position Mr. Neilsen was General Manager of Globalstar’s European operation headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Mr. Neilsen has also held key financial and contract management positions in Globalstar and was program manager for the first-generation space and ground segment development and construction.
Prior to joining Globalstar, Mr. Neilsen spent 9 years with Space Systems Loral where he held various financial positions supporting satellite production contracts. Mr. Neilsen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from San Jose State University along with a Masters degree in Finance from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
